"Muklawa"* is a Punjabi romantic comedy-drama film set in the 1960s rural Punjab. The movie revolves around a traditional Punjabi custom called "Muklawa," where the bride returns to her parental home after the wedding and only later returns to her husband's home.
The story follows Shinda (played by Ammy Virk) and Taaro (played by Sonam Bajwa), who get married but are separated immediately as per the tradition. Shinda, deeply in love with Taaro, eagerly waits for the time when she can come back to live with him. However, due to circumstances, he is not allowed to see his wife until the Muklawa is formally lifted.
The film depicts Shinda's various humorous and heartfelt attempts to catch a glimpse of his wife and bring her back home sooner.
